HELP! Need bridge saddles...

or perhaps I need somebody to talk me out of this.

Here's the issue: I LOVE my Conklin 7-string Groove Tools bass, but I HATE the stock bridge saddles on it (I much prefer barrel style saddles for ease of bending, reduced contact point with string, and general aesthetics, etc.)...so, does anybody know where I can get barrel or half-barrel-style bridge saddles that are 16mm or .625" inches wide? Any info that could help point me in the right direction or talk me out of this would be greatly helpful.

saddles have no bearing on "ease of bending", and "reduced contact with the string" is of no consequence a long as the takeoff "witness point" is a clean design.

Wrong, Mr. Wright. Lower profile/shorter saddles will indeed affect string tension, and my current saddles are so massive they won't go much lower.

I need some barrel or half-barrel bass bridge saddles that are .625 inches or 16mm wide. If anyone knows of a source for these, please reply here or PM me.

If you want to ridicule my assertions, please do it to me in person.

I'm not mr Wright but I'd like to know how saddles affect string tension? I can't see they can do that.

They don't. FTR, walterw (Walter @ Alpha Music), JLS, and 202dy (amongst others) are the "go-to" guys on this kind of stuff.

Have you tried AllParts? I've never purchased any saddles but they seem to have a bunch of everything...in 3 finishes.

I'm in Mr. Wright's camp on this... so far. Lowering the saddles will affect action, but the tension will always have to be the same regardless of the type of saddle assuming the string is tuned to proper pitch in both cases. Changing tension results in changed pitch.

In fact, if you lower the saddles to get the lower possible action, it would have a negative effect on string bending on the G and D. Bending them "up" towards the center of the neck where it's higher would result in the string buzzing against the frets. Assuming the fretboard has a crown in the center.
