Help needed

I need you guys to recommend me some basses to try out, as I live several hours from the nearest decent sized guitar/music shop.

Let's see....

Price: anything from £0-£950

I'm currently playing in an prog-rock band and an indie band.

Currently playing a Jim Deacon (SX) P-bass through an Ashdown 300 MAG evo II.
Been playing 1.5 years.
Genres: Blues, jazz, funk, classic rock, ____core, prog.
Main bass playing influences, in no particular order:

Tim Commerford
John Gallant
Roger Waters
JPJ
Jack Bruce
Justin Chancellor
Noel Redding
Flea

Hope I gave enough details.:D

If you are rich then try the mid-price ranges in the best store that you can get to.
If you are poor then try the lower price ranges and used lots.
Fender Squier PBs are the sort of thing that would suit you as a compromise.
If you are semi-pro, then try a few other mid-price range basses.
If you intend to progress beyond basic simple rock stuff, a more useful bass would be a Fender Jazz bass, or a Warwick. The choice is yours. you are the buyer.
