HELP-NO IDEA WHAT TO DO

So I'm getting an ampeg portaflex pf-800 which supplies 800W ...now the speaker i have home is 100W. Can i use this together or will it cause damage to one of them? what can i use?Only 800 w amp with a 800W cab? What if i'm going gigging and take the head with me do i have to know what the speakers of the venue are?

Calm down, use common sense... of course you can use an 800W amp with a 100W cab, you just have to listen to the speakers. When they are sounding stressed (compressed or distorted), it's time to back off the volume knob.

That's a huge disparity. What speaker are you using?

Like these guys said, if it sounds wrong it's probably too much power and you need to turn down. Listen for a farting or flapping sound and try cutting your lows. I always turned the bass down to 3-4/10 on the PF amps .
