Help settle a debate about Geddy Lee Jazz Basses

So a buddy of mine has just acquired a "Geddy Lee Jazz CIJ", the neck checks out as such but the body had a preamp (thats been removed) with battery box. Now to my knowledge there never has been a Geddy Lee Jazz bass that had active electronics, to which Im reaching out to Talkbass to settle this.

Has there ever been an active Fender Geddy Lee model? Or is it a Geddy neck on some other bass?

I own a MIM Geddy signature. I like to follow the "never say never" mantra, so instead of saying "there absolutely has never been such a thing", I will instead say that I have never been aware of it being made by Fender. AFAIK, they have always been passive, unless someone added a preamp after purchase.
