HELP THIS DATE this Fender JAZZ BASS

[Jazz Bass Girl]

Can anyone help me to date this Fender Jazz Bass?

Seller says it’s all original but the neck has been refretted & finished.

I believe it’s 73/74, but I’m specifically wanting to buy a 1973.

So if anyone can help to shed some light on its manufacturing date, please do!

Or if you have any tips or spot anything that isn’t right, please let me know.

We need a picture of the number at the bottom of the neck. PS. Looks like a 73 to me. Also check out the numbers stamped on the pickups.

Sorry, forgot to upload the S/N.

I think the numbers would tally with early 70s.

Those pots were built 52nd week of '73.
So that should make this a 74.

I would also concur with '74 probably. Tug bar location, serial # suggests closer to mid 70's. I take it there's no stamp on the neck butt?

Edit: also I think it's missing the neck plate "gasket" to be a complete '73.

But the cool thing about it (Even if it is a 74) is the fact that at least it has some original parts that were definitely made in 73!

Custom colour black/maple jazz with white pearl blocks...damn - not so much a jazz guy but sooo nice.

That would be a '74

It could be a early 1975, because they didn't start the bullet truss rod until mid year 1975.

That bass appears to be in great shape, if it is what it appears to be.

Hmm — good spot. It’s supposedly the same bass from the same seller. I won’t but without going and seeing/playing in person. But I’ll question this.

Nice! I'm a 73 as well (and Jazz Bass fanatic)

Too many details if this bass lay it over to be a 74: the E string-side thumbrest and pearl block inlays and white binding on maple board are both changes for 74.
A true 73 would still have the finger rest mounted below the G string, and would have black binding and blocks on a maple board neck.

So, I'd say just keep shopping.

The Andy Baxter bass shop has both a 73 and 74 maple neck Jazzes. Compare the two so you can pick out the details and see what really sets them apart.

Is it all original?
The Neck plate serial is 73’ and the neck looks legit,can’t make out the pot date from that pic.
She’s a beaut!
