Hi all. With my new band, it almost seems the smaller the bar, the more money we make. It gives me great opportunity to take advantage of my little GK mb500-2 & avatar 210 neo rig. it sounds awesome, even battling my "hendrix" counterpart's marshall 4x12.
So heres my problem. Some places are so small I actually end up in front of the drummer, or way off to a side. The bass fills the club fine, but the drummer sometimes has issues hearing me. I had some 8 ohm hartke speakers around, so i decided to build a 1x10 "wedge" monitor for him, that I could throw behind my rig facing him, or on top for a vertical 310 stack, or drag around for practice etc. While crusing the web, looking for a design to "borrow" I found MF selling a 1x10 phonic "monitor" blem for $59. The reviews weren't bad and I figured its going to cost me that much to build a cab. I realize the cab size is not optimal for bass, but with a hartke in there, it should be sufficient for a monitor.
So the cab came, not bad. Swapped out the speaker and it will definitely do the job, pretty versatile as it can be layed back like a monitor, or set on its end, even has a pole socket. Originally I was just going to disconnect the tweeter, but now I can see using this little guy as a PA monitor in a crunch ( I actually picked up a second one). So I would like a way to switch on and off the tweeter depending on the application. the way the input jacks are recessed, I can easily put a small switch in there, without it sticking out. I just dont know anything about speaker wiring, but I can cut wires and solder.
There are 2 inputs wired together parallel. The wires from one input goes direct to the 10, the other to the tweeter. No crossover. Seems easy enough, I just dont know if there is a specific type switch I need to use; to cut the red, the black or both. Any help is massively appreciated.
