Help with a bassist

Well, since we are always serious, I think you should teach that bass player how to play tuba. Tuba is THE bass for metal, because brass is metal. Plus it is big. You can tarnish it and then rub lightening bolts on the sides.
This thread has been quite the experience. I think some people actually believed me, which is a bit sad but makes me kind of proud.

That's the real troll... I'm actually a drummer with no affiliation to bass whatsoever. My friend put me up to this.

What a terrible disappointment. I was feeling your plight, and was going to suggest you offer that bass player tuba lessons. He would then join a polka band, start wearing plaid shirts and lederhosen, and you would be rid of him once and for all. But since you are a drummer, maybe there's a glockenspiel in your future. Firey glockenspiel would be AWESOME!

Like this? Btw I have one and it's more of a classic rock bass.

Proud?

I'd be seriously disappointed if anyone believed anything that I wrote on this forum.

As a matter of fact, it should probably be a forum sticky to not take anything I post seriously. Ever.

A bit late to the game, but here's what you should do: let the bass player have the spotlight. You can stand in the background and strum chords. The world is full of lead guitarists and support bass players, ho hum, what you have here is something new and exciting - don't fight a winning concept. You can thank me later.

I do much the same in my band as your bass player does. Difference is our guitarist/singer is an awesome writer/friend. He brings an idea and as a BAND we make it our own. If this dudes not your friend then go back to kindergarten and learn how to work together. Just sayin.

If I could figure out how to put a quote in my signature line, this would be it!

Here's how you do that: Click "quote" to add it to your multi-quote thing, then select it to be used in your next post. Copy what gets printed there and forget the post. Go to your control panel, edit sig, paste the quote.

It's time for a patented LiquidMidnight anecdote. My local music scene has a message board. A few years ago, out of a fit of boredom and a need to entertain myself, I created a fake username called "Give It To Me Good," who came to the webpage with the intention of starting a Trixter tribute act. Every post I made had some sort of reference to Trixter in it, and I said over the top things like "Trixter is to modern music what Mozart was to classical music," and "Trixter redefined music as we know it." I even claimed that Trixter's influence was so widespread, that Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Pat Metheny, Toby Keith, Pantera, and the Drop Kick Murphys all cited Trixter as a big influence. Many people knew it was a joke; however, quite a few people actually took it seriously and went on to explain in great detail why a Trixter tribute band wouldn't be a good idea or they racked their brains trying to figure out how Pantera were influenced by Trixter.

Sadly, the site owner knew it was me, and banned my Trixter username after about 15 posts. :D

Wow this thread went way out of control. I'm the "bassist" Gunnar speaks of, but I am actually a RHYTHEM GUITARIST. Just because a guitar doesn't have 8 strings doesn't mean it's a bass. In fact I am almost positive that a six string guitar was invented before an 8 string. And sense Gunnar has still failed to notice, our former bassist left the band 4 months ago. The keytarist (who shall remain nameless to avoid tarnishing his good name) alerted me to this thread and I am greatly annoyed that Gunnar still doesn't know the difference between a guitarist and a bassist. Though I am not surprised that Gunnar wanted advise on how best to kill me as that is indeed the metal thing to do. As far as the rhythem guitar being too loud I will let you fine and dandy bassists judge that, here is one of our songs:
