Help with active EMG David Ellefson wiring.

Question regarding wiring new pickups:

I just bought the active EMG David Ellefson Soapbar solderless kit to install into an old Ibanez PL5050 but there are 4 pots (blend, volume, 2 tone) to replace and the kit only requires 3 (VVT) even though it comes with 4 (VVTT pots) if needed.

I’d like to put a 3 way rotary selector in the signal so I can have 4 functional knobs but the wiring diagram that comes with it is not clear on how to do this. If a selector is put in the chain it looks like it’s still 3 total knobs (selector, volume, tone). How do I have 2 volumes, selector, and tone?

I was thinking of each pickup going to a volume, then going to the selector, then the tone. Will this work? Conversely, can I skip the rotary selector and have each pickup go to a volume, then a separate tone, then combine both tone outputs to the jack?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Never mind - I figured it out. Put in a 3 way toggle switch instead Or a rotary switch, with 2 volumes first, followed by a master tone.

I thought you had to buy the fancy $80 pot they sell to do a blend pot, you cant do that with just the stock pots can you?

Yeah, you would have to buy it separately. The $8 toggle switch I put in works just fine.
