I need an Elixir 130 XL B string for my MM Classic 5. The through body requires the XL. I’ve been looking for two years and it’s way past time to change my strings. I put on my last set 8 months ago. I’ve contacted Elixir and tried the big boys with no luck. Elixir said it might put out more some time this year. I have the 4 string XL set but need the B. I’ve been using Elixir for 30 year and have tried other brands but love the feel and sound. Reverb has a couple but over $60 shipping for a single string. Any local stores have stock or is it time to move on to something new.

Can you find a regular "long scale" low B? Why not top-load the B as a temporary workaround till the "extra long" B's become more readily available?

No clear reason as to why they maintain two websites. I suppose you could email the second one, asking if the first is legit.
I think one of these sets would cover you too? Nickel plated, but still a 5 string set with the 130 B.

I’m looking for either the 130Xl normal taper or the 130 tapered. I was hoping this thread would wake someone up at Elixir and try and keep its customers. I haven’t found anything yet I like to replace my 30year loyal use of Elixirs.
Sadowsky. I recently purchased a couple of sets of their Blue Label Nickels to go on my bass. I'd also be interested in trying the Dunlop Tapered B set.
I'm convinced that Elixir's lack of ability to make strings is the reason that D'Addario came out with their XS strings. Too bad that they only make them for guitar at this point.
I just received an email from Elixir saying 2/1/2013 they will be restocking all of their bass strings. Help is on the way.

I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
I emailed the first one, to ask about possible international shipping. I don't want to waste money on other strings, either...Elixirs last soooooooo long, that they pay for themselves in little time.
