Help with line6 POD + computer

I know there's a lot of material about home recording but most are about getting the appropiate gear and setting it up, I was hoping someone could help me with the stuff that I got.

Basically what I've been doing is pluging the bass (active yamaha) to the POD, then the POD's DI output to my PC's inline input, recording with adobe audition.

I've been trying to get the right setup for recording but the lows sound disorted, like the input is too high, but even if I cut down the lows or lower the input I'm still getting the wrong sound, I've fiddled a bit with the PC's input lvls and POD's output lvls but cant seem to get it right :/

Any help or suggestions appreciated

I don't know if you are using a bass POD or guitar POD, but here's my setup and maybe an answer:

I use a passive fender jazz bass through a guitar POD rather than bass POD (got it for something other than bass, realized it works just fine on bass). However, I find that the bass gets distorted if the drive knob is up - might want to crank it down all the way and see if that helps. Sounds like it's obviously being overdriven - maybe want to try going down the chain a bit and lowering things, although i realize you say you've already done that. Otherwise, maybe try putting a mixing board between the pod and computer and seeing if you can lower the level out from there.

You also may not have good enoug on-board audio inputs in which case buying a line to usb connector might be a good idea. M-audio makes some pretty decent low budget units for this purpose.

If you're using the DI out from a Bass Pod, then changing the eq on the Pod won't do anything. It's a totally dry out (unless you select "FX to DI", but that still won't change anything with the eq.) Make sure you're using the Model output.

Have you tried using the USB out instead of going into the soundcard? It works great for me.

Are you absolutely sure you're plugged into the line-in and not into the Mic input? Or if there's only one input, the software controlling it is configured to line levels and not mic levels?
