Help with my Douglas WOB 826 Fretless

I got this from Rondo Music after seeing favorable reviews. However, it seems to be off. It came with flatwounds. It sounded atrocious, so I scrapped those and got a set of Fender nickel rounds. There was improvement, but the volume between the strings is uneven. The E and A strings are louder than the others, while the B string is very weak. The B string also just generally sounds crappy. Could anybody help me resolve these issues?

I bought a used 825 and had the same issue with a boomy B string. New strings fixed that issue.

Have you adjusted pickup height? This may help although the fact that that your B is weaker than the E and A is confusing.

Are the relevant string heights correct?

The B string is not boomy, it is weak. And not just in volume, there is something just off about it.
