Helped a starving musician

Got this for $350 with a hard case. The wife and I had gone to see a band at an outdoor event after a charity bike run. Long story short there is one less starving musician out there as I bought it from him so the band could have some extra cash.

It is a Fender Roadworn Jazz bass.
There are Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups in it and a BadAss bridge.
Three tone sunburst is under the white paint.
Just thought I'd share this score as I seem to only read about deals like this. Thanks for the rant.

How does it sound, how does it feel?
Sometimes I think about buying just the right Fender or Squire bass from one of the pawn shops by me and doing a roadworn job on it.

I'm not super familiar with Fender's relic jobs. OK, so they sand through the paint on the edges of the body, check. Do they also put a buckle rash spot on the back, as in the pic?

And I've got a Sadowsky Vintage on which the neck finish is wearing through, a beat-up old Fender jazz that's _seriously_ worn on the neck, and used to own a Lakland JO that was naturally worn. The wear pattern in the pic looks very different from my basses. I figure they first wear through on the G-string edge of the fretboard and the middle of the neck where the thumb rides in first position. The pic looks edge-to-edge over a long stretch of the neck.

Just curious, 'sall.

This was sprayed by the previous owner as these models from Fender weren't offered in white. I have taken the neck off and the original color is three tone sunburst so the body wear is a mystery to me. The neck wear is pretty close looking to my other Roadworn Jazz.

No this wasn't but the other basses he had weren't Fenders. This one stuck out with his other two. He said he wasn't a Fender fan and it didn't fit the bands look.

You did fine. That bridge alone runs 100 bucks. That's a great price for a nice Jazz. You can't even build a parts bass for that money any more.

Nice find! If you decide it isn't for you, you could part it out and make some $$ on the deal. You could probably break close to even (or better) just by selling the neck.

I love the home-brewed paintjob, and I think it works with the overall vibe of your bass. I'd probably leave it, as long as there's no issue with the white paint (such a being latex house paint). Those RW necks feel great, too, imo.

Refinish it. The fake mojo is one thing, but that bass just looks dirty.
