I 'm looking at replacing some of my old first generation Eden/SWR Goliath 10"speakers. I found regular paper cones for $195 and hemp for $125. Any major difference other than the price and is the savings worth it?

hemp cone speakers anbody use them?

Yeah. If you get the hemp cones and if your cab should ever happen to catch fire, your entire band can gather 'round and get some nose hits, for a nice buzz.

Too bad hemp is the male plant with no THC in it. It is stronger and sturdier then paper. Its going to be a little denser so it might sound more muddy compared to a paper cone but it may not.
are they from the same company ? usually hemp stuff is more expensive because its trendy. i dont think there would be a huge difference in sound just because of the hemp if the magnets and everything else is the same. all fine antique bibles are hemp paper too

Its only expensive because the us wont allow us to manufacturer hemp so we have to import it. If only johnny law would see that hemp could revolutionize the world by saving trees.

The cone material is the last thing you should be considering, if at all. I hope you are considering what does matter, T/S specs and frequency response.

Those responses are priceless. I'm not sure on the frequency response. I just happened on the page and saw the hemp listed with the Edens. Here's the link [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] . I didn't look around for alot of info. If they're comparable the price is right. I just know nothing of the quality since it seems like something new I always alittle wary.
Believe me that is foremost in my mind. I really don't want any less than what's been in those cabs for the last 20 years. If it doesn't respond and hold up the way those ancient Edens have it's not worth it.

I wouldn't worry about it not lasting. Hemp is a much better product then paper. You know that test where you push in the speaker cone to see if it's damaged? With hemp you wouldn't have to be as worried. People have been choosing hemp over paper until they outlawed it. It's much sturdier then paper and will hold up to water and pressure a lot better then standard paper.
