Hennessey Straplocks

Saw these at the local music store yesterday. Anyone know anything about these or ever use them? They seem similar to Zeppelinn and may be the same thing with a different name on them.

Don't waste your money! There is a simpler, cheaper, and 100% effective system, washers! Remove your strap, button and screw. Now put the assembly together in this order:

Screw - Button - Washer - Strap - Foam Disk

Screw this assembly into your bass tight and you won't lose your bass for world war 3! Also make sure your washer is larger in outer diameter than the hole in your strap, with an inner hole large enough to go into the button, but small enough not to allow the button to pass through it.

That's a good method if you don't mind your strap being permanently attached. But if you ever want to take it off again, it's best to use strap locks. Those Hennesseys look good, but boy, are they expensive! Dunlops or Schallers will do just as well for half the price.

I use Dunlops, have for years & never had a problem. I also leave the strap on most of my basses, but a couple of them have straps that don't go into the gigbag very well(eithr they don't fold easily or for one reason or another might scratch the bass). For these reasons semi-permanently attaching the strap wouldn't work for me.

It all depends on what you do. If your the kind of guy who stands there at back not moving much, then your strap locks will be perfect.

However if your a metal head like me and throws your bass around like you would a sack of potatoes on a truck, then you need the extra support the washers give.

I have the hennesseys and love them. However, I have to agree that a homemade / hardware store washer assembly beats all strap locks.
