Yeah, I could be wrong, but I got the same impression too after visiting their web site, that this was (at least in some ways) what they were striving for.

Double Bass Henriksen JazzAmp?

It is similar to a Polytone in terms of shape and weight. The amplifier and eq are vastly different. I say this not as an electrical engineer but as a Polytone owner from way back. I think that speaker technology has advanced a lot in the last 25 years or so and the same for eq and amplification. So yes it is the new Polytone in terms of appearance and layout but I don't think it has anything in common with a Polytone's sound.
I know it's been awhile since this thread was active. In the interim, has anybody tried the Jazzamp 12 with an EB? I'm not likely to double very often, but I'd like an amp that is capable of sounding ok with the planks too.
In case anyone is not aware, they now have a 10" Bass Cabinet available? Only 16 lbs which puts it in contention with the Wizzy 10. Check the website for details.

I had one here to audition, to see if I wanted to carry it (I do like the 12" combo and do stock it), but I returned it and will not sell it unless it is revised/improved. It could probably be a good guitar cab, but IMHO it lacks bottom and is, as a result, not well suited for bass. We played it by itself, and then compared it with the Wizzy 10 using the Henriksen companion head, an EA Micro 300, and a Clarus, and there was no contest. It just didn't pass the Bob Test, and if I can't recommend it, I can't sell it. Just my opinion, YMMV.
So has anyone else tried the JazzAmp 10" bass cab? BobG didn't like it and it seems BobG is not even selling the 12" combo anymore either.
I used the 10" cab and the Henriksen head on a gig two weeks ago in a bar, and they asked us to turn down. It was amazingly ballsy, warm, clear, and loud with both DB and slab. I took it home to audition further, and it never again approached these qualities (ballsy and loud) in rehearsals and another gig. It farts out on the low E on both basses, and just doesn't move enough air. My first impression must have been helped considerably by the room and its placement.
The tone is great, an instant step up from my Polytone, which I still like. I'm picking up the 12" from my buddy who is a dealer, and will give it a test drive on some gigs and rehearsals.
