Her faith was weak.

I guess the difference to me is that god never told me a danged thing about snakes,

That's because God works in mysterious ways.

I can just imagine God hiding in the bushes.

"Ok... here he comes...!! Jesus, you got the water balloons ready?"

"Yeah Dad, they're ready."

"Ready.... GO!"

*splash* *oomph* *splash*

"Hey... what the... water balloons?"

"HAHAH I WORK IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS, FOOL!"

"Oh. Ok. Thanks God!"

I guess the difference to me is that god never told me a danged thing about snakes, but I seemed to come out OK. I have been bitten by snakes dozens of times with no ill effects, mainly because I chose non-poisonous snakes to handle. When I was a kid, we'd catch 'em and handle them by the middle and laugh at each other when we got bit.

Suggestion to the Kentucky knuckleheads ... use non-poisonous snakes. That way, you can test your faith, but you don't have to die if it turns out you're a closet heathen.

BTW, I'm wondering if the church members discouraged her from getting medical help because it would have shown a lack of faith. No shortage of stupidity around there.

I would not be suprised if they DID try to dissuade her from medical attention. It may be possible that they wanted her to use her faith to heal herself. I hope not though.

Be a man, don't rub it.

Naw, dude. Be a man; kick them when they're down. It's easy to just back off some poor shmuck because they're misguided in their beliefs. And, really, what are they hurting by believing in something that makes them better people...

THAT PLAY WITH POISONOUS SNAKES.

Umm...that makes sense how? Is relevant how?

When my husband was a firefighter/EMT, he was called to a trailer house. Not, like, you know...a *permanent* trailer. The kind most people take vacations in.

There were these faith-healing-church gypsy folk living down there. This girl had passed out, and someone called 911. But by the time the crew got there, the church people had come, and talked the girl and her parents out of having her receive medical attention. They decided to anoint her with oil, instead.

Yes they did. when someone is bit in this style of "worship" all the members get together and have an all night prayer vigil to provide "healing" for the bitten member. They drink cyanide also.

These people give Christians some really bad PR..........

And, when she felt continued to feel badly, and called the EMT's again, the preacher showed up and drove them all off, screaming and whipping the church members into a frenzy. Never did know what happened after that. They took the girl off somewhere in a car.

But we did note that, when the preacher fell off a ladder painting his house (an actual house, not a Winnebago), and broke his leg...he accepted medical care, rather than an anointing. :scowl:

It was mentioned before, but reaffirmation never hurts. Those sects give Christiany a bad name. I mean to prevent someone from getting the medical care they need? Even in Bible times there were healers.
