Hercules mic stands suck!

My church bought a bunch of Hercules microphone stands. They keep failing on us. They poles strips out of the base and they are a pain to adjust. They did have a warranty so my worship leader contacted them and sent the broken ones back. In the mean time we had to beg, borrow and steal extra stands. Hercules did replace them but mixed up the order and did not send us the booms back. Also it too them months to send us replacements.

Now they are breaking again or the few that did not fail are now failing. I am so fed up with them that I bring my own microphone stand to church.

I am trying to convince our worship leader to sell them off (or donate them or trash them) and buy new non-Hercules stands.

Also, we are a freaking church group! It's not like we are going on tour with them!

I will never buy anything from them again and I encourage you not to either!

I have never used that model from them. I have been using Hercules stands exclusively for several years now and swear by the models I use.

I can't say the same. My double stand broke, and they'd only replace it with the sale receipt (who saves a receipt for a guitar stand?). I really only needed a little part, but they couldn't/wouldn't send me one. Now I buy the cheapos, cover the parts that touch my guitar with cotten (to avoid marring the finish) and I'm happy. Simple is better.

My single stand is falling apart too. Granted I gigged with it a lot. I probably would have been ok for around the house but not for gigging.

My guitar player had one of the mic stands. Same thing.

For the money, you should get better stuff. I avoid Hercules whenever possible.

My 6 month old son broke a Hercules stand I had. I don't trust the stuff after that.

I use Radio Shack stands with Hercules 2 and 4 foot booms...LOVE 'EM!
I have numerous mini-stands for electric bass and guitars, three music stands, and one tall stand to hang my Exploiter from since it's an odd shape. Quality through and through, In my opinion,

I respectfully disagree with the guys who are saying that Hercules stands are the best...König & Meyer (K&M) stands are what I stand by and love for mic stands as do a lot of professional sound companies and touring musicians I work with.

For instrument stands though, Hercules stands are pretty cool.

+1 to K&M. If you're going to spend your own money, this is the way to go.

I use a Hercules stand for my bass and it is great. I also have a bunch of their hangers on my wall and those are very nice as well. No problems at all. I will buy more in the future. Bummer about the mic stands. I will need to look elsewhere for those I guess.

Yeah, me too. But then, if I'm at home, my axes live in their cases, and only occasionally put on a stand. I liked the concept, but really, a stand that falls apart is complete trash to my way of thinking.

Yep... trying to set up shows with the flimsy club's gear is a constant reminder of why I can't abide that kind of stuff.

Life's too short to be finagling with stripped-out and/or seized junk-metal boom clutches.

I've had pretty good luck with Ultimate brand stuff. (Had a folding lightweight stand of theirs forever and it just won't die. )

Next time I need a boom or a tripod base, though, I'm definitely going K&M or equivalent.
