here's a nice fantasy...

so tomorrow someone offers to buy you any bass you desire, custom or production. what would you get?

as for me, probably a black p bass, with nordstrand pup, audere pre, and a birdseye maple neck and white guard. dressed up nice and vintage with pup cover. maybe sadowsky, or valenti.

The most expensive bass I could find.

Then I'd sell it and use the money as a down payment on a new Harley Davidson Softail Heritage Classic.

I don't need a new bass. But my bike is due for replacement.

Right now thats a sunburst early 70's fender jazz bass with maple fretboard, black bindings and block inlays.. early 70's will say its a 4 bolt on without the Bullet trussrod, and sporting the 100 times cooler 70's Fender logo (the one without the serial on the headstock)

Im gonna buy a Geddy and make one myself, cant afford it any other way :p Need to change the logo though.

Edit.
Wait, wait, wait! An Fender Jazz Bass is much easier to get than this:
I'll take a Status Graphite Buzzard 1 thanks! :D

A custom Ristola, probably fretless.
Cherry burl top if possible, otherwise a reddish maple burl.
His work makes me drool uncontrollably. And they play as good as they look!

A black Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass, with 24 frets, Gotoh bridge, Dimarzio PJ pups, series parallel switch and a Villex rotary mid booster. And a fretless twin brother with ebony unlined fingerboard.
I guess many a bassist would drool over these.

Sorry for quoting myself, but since I wrote down the specs of my fantasy basses I had a MAJOR GAS ATTACK. I've got the shakes...
Fender has to launch these ASAP.
Drool... 24 fret aerodyne jazz... drool... all black hardware... drool...OMG...

If I could have any bass.... hmm
I would go with one of these:

Its tough for me to say, seeing as how my gas is everywhere and nowhere nowadays. I dont really lust for any bass in particular. I suppose if it was free I would want something relatively extravagent, so maybe a Nordstrand 4 string custom. I am growing away from the boutique thing, however. I have become more a fan of classic styled high end instruments, such as alleva coppolo. So thats a possibility as well.
