Hey computer guys! I need some help

So my parents are looking into buying me a laptop for my 17th birthday which is on the 12th of august. I intend to use it for school work, maybe a little bit of home recording (like youtube videos) some web browsing (talkbass and facebook, anyone?) and a little bit of gaming. The main laptop we've been looking at is the HP Pavillion 15.6" AMD Athlon II Dual Core P320.

Based on the specs of this unit (found at Link Removed), what does everyone generally think of this unit? I don't want my parents to spend any more then that on a computer, so if anyone has a suggestion that would be better for my needs around that price range, suggest away please!

The main game I'll be playing on the computer would most likely be The Sims 3. The system requirements for The Sims 3 are here [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

How would the game run on this computer?

The budget is around that area. If I can get a great computer for a bit more ($50 or a bit) then that wouldn't be a big deal. And I'm mostly going to be using the computer for home use, but using it also for powerpoints, essays, not so much for computer classes. My school is packed with Macs, and all of my classes I take that involve computers are in the Mac labs.

From what I read on the link you provided for the HP lap top, it will probably be good for school work(the free Open Office Suite works very well), youtube recording(quality depends on camera/microphone) and web browsing. Since it doesn't have a separate video memory card, it may be limited in speed of display which will detract from pretty much everything.

From the other site, Sims 3 requires:
# 2GHz P4 processor
# 128MB video card (Pixel Shader 2.0 supported)
# 1.5GB RAM

The HP doesn't have a separate video card or a P4 processor.

You might want to look into something more like: Link Removed

Wouldn't the "Graphics Chipset" be the video card?

i rather own a dell than an HP from expierience and I dont like either. I actually found Lenovo and Sony to be better construction than the rest and CS is alot better. Atleast from what ive expierienced as a network admin for the 4th largest school system in the US.
