Hey everyone! Question about EMGs!

hey everyone! this is my first post here! i had a question about EMG pickups that i was hoping someone could answer. I dont know too much about the electronics part of basses, so i apologize if this is a stupid question. My friend recently hooked me up with his Jackson C20 bass. I love the bass, i just am not crazy about the pickups. I wanted to have EMGs put on it, but i know active pickups require a battery, and this bass does not have a spot for a battery, so i wasnt sure if these pickups could even go on the bass. Someone told me the battery could go in the back cavity where the electronics are, but i wasnt sure if that was right.

You may want to put a good title for your thread so that people can help, usually "hey everyone" is nice for an intro but not if you are asking for help.

Question is: why do you want to swap pickups? do they sound weak, or they don't have the sound you want? Just asking because EMGs are good pickups but they may not be for everybody.

To see if the battery will fit anywhere, just open the rear control cover (usually plastic with screws holding it to the back of the bass) and see if you can reasonably put a 9v battery securely inside. You can pretty much put the battery anywhere you have space and the wires will reach it. I've seen people put it in a hole under the pickguard, but that would be a pain if the battery dies and you have to remove the whole pickguard.

thanks for the response and sorry about the title.
i am switching the pickups mainly because i played my friends bass that had EMGs on it, and i love the sound he got, and i am just not happy with the sound of these pickups. i just wasnt sure if the battery would be ok in the back panel. thanks again

any idea where i could find the specs for the EMGs? i looked on musiciansfriend, and the emg website, and i can't seem to find it. thanks a lot for the help!

well I know the EMG pickups are standard dimension, so try to find a Precision pickup and bridge J pickup spec diagram
