Double Bass Hey TROIKA! Butch Warren content

Thanks for the link, Ed! I had not seen it yet, but I knew that it was out there.

I did get to spend an afternoon with Butch earlier this month. He seemed to be doing much better than I've seen him in a long time. I got some good stories and a little bit of lesson/advice from him. Amazing guy.

He told me that he had never heard the records that he made with Booker Ervin, so I'm sending them to him. He has an amazing discography for only having recorded for about 4 years. Never occured to me that he may not have heard it all.

So, gotta share,

On my last visit with Butch he mentioned the had never heard the sides he recorded with Booker Ervin, so I ordered him a copy of Exultation and drove down to the Post Office to mail it to him. When I came out, he was on the radio; 3 O'Clock in the Morning from Dexter Gordon's GO.

I consider that a very good show of cosmic karma. 2 gigs tonight, I'm hoping it shows up in my fingers.

That's downright spooky, Troy. Happy channeling! ;)

Yes like that ^ a lot. I've been putting off reading the article because I know the story a little, it kinda hurts/hits home becasue of a close tie of a family friend. I was pleased the article came out. Thank you for posting and getting all the history that came aloing with it. Sending love out to Butch and everybody that takes the time to listen and care. Peace, Fred

...Una Mas, The Arrival of Kenny Dorham, A Swingin' Affair, Leapin' and Loapin', A Fickle Sonace, It's Monk's Time, Free Form, A New Perspective, Royal Flush, Vertigo...

all in a 4 year year period and then not again until just a few years ago.

Respectfully Rama,

Please check out the link that Ed left- Mr. Warren is not exactly "doing fine"...I'm sure you meant no harm.

Sincerely,

Joe

Ahh I see, my sincere apologies, I never meant to do any harm as you said.
From what I've read, I thought Butch was getting back on his feet and started recording again.

I never wish any (human) being to be in any sort of crappy situation.

I figured you hadn't read the whole story on the link- a cursory glance might lead one to believe he is doing better, and certainly, there are some aspects of his situation that have improved...

All we can do is help support him as much as we are able, and let him know how much he is appreciated and loved.

Nameste,

Joe

I read through the whole article before I posted, but my English is not that well advanced enough to truly understand the article in one go. :atoz:

Oh well, no harm done and please notify him that he is still listened to everyday by a random Dutch guy who rides his bicycle to work.

I will buy Butch's Blues tomorrow, 00.04 AM here right now off to bed!
