I'm a new bass owner although I did dink around with a guitar several years ago. Had too many other hobbies at the time to take it too seriously. I'm 43 and as much as I love music I thought to myself I will regret it someday if I never learn to express myself musically. So here I am. Not having fingers that approach those of Nosterafu, I decided my "entry level" rig would comprise of a formerly owned Fender Geddy Lee model Jazz bass and because I thought it was a great deal and something to grow into, a Ampeg SVT-3PRO head mated to an Ampeg 410 HLF cab. Also got a GT-6B effect unit for later on down the road. The bass is pretty much mint except for some tiny spots of rust on the PU poles which I'm sure will clean off. My first question and this probably isn't the best place on the site for it is.....Any ideas on what strings I should start out with as the ones on it are no telling how old and I want them replaced. I like rock, folk, blues...thanks.
