Hi all

I'm Bill, an electrician from London. About 2 years ago I was fixing the lights in a music shop in north London, looking at all the beautiful basses hanging from the wall and thought, 'I wan't one'. Those were my first symptoms of GAS.

I'm still a beginner but I'm making good use of the lockdown, practising between 2-3 hours a day. When not practising, I'm on the internet looking at gear porn and making my GAS even worse...and also checking posts on Talkbass, so I thought I'd join.

Sorry about the GAS, this music thing is a hobby with me, and between the sail boat and music the boat got most of my hobby budget. Finally did sell the boat, gave it away really, but, the ole rhythm guitar and a P bass plus a new keyboard do what I need for my music.

Sounds like there is some GAS developing here also, I'll have to watch this, as we are retired now and on a fixed income. Which right now is not all that bad, as there is retirement money coming each month.

Welcome to TB.

In truth, I like GAS. I'm content with my addiction, it's just the missus that has an issue with it. Also, I'm a tight fisted git so I do have to justify a big expenditure to myself too. Most of my GAS is around less expensive stuff anyway; I gas after Far Eastern tributes and American off the shelf stuff more than custom shop jobs or old 1960s relics.

And yes, right now a regular pension must be a comfort. I'm waiting until I'm back at work full time before my next gear outlay.
