Hi and question -- new DeVilli bass

I'm so glad to have found this forum. I can't quite find where to post this question, but it is about a new Deville Bass that I bought from EBay for about $500 including shipping.

The local expert has shortened the bridge which lowers the strings to make it easier to play and put in a new sound post but thinks the finger board with lowered strings needs work to eliminate the buzz of the strings. That extra work will cost $175. (YIKES!)

Has anyone had experience with this? I only need the bass for practicing and learning, so I'll probably bring it home with the buzzing strings.

Thanks for your comments -- hope to be in touch more often.

Hello, Marilyn, and welcome to Talkbass. If you'll take the time to do some searches for Deville (Devilli), Ebay, and "CCB," you'll find a lot of information that may help you. Unfortunately, you'll find that most of our members have a pretty low opion of the cheaper Chinese-made instruments primarily sold on EBay - and experiences like yours are the reason why. You may be one of the fortunate ones who got a bass that won't need much work, but then again...

Good luck with your bass!
