Hi end bass neck issue

Just received a bass in trade (it's from a hi end luthier that everyone praises on here and I thought I'd be ok) but the neck has a reverse bow to it. The truss rod is as loose as it will go already. In fact, it's currenty so loose that I can hear it rattling in the neck. I tried to tweak it just enough to make the rattle stop, but the reverse bow condition instantly gets worse. It's had a few days now to acclimate to the north east weather (came from the southwest US) but hasn't changed a bit.
Unfortunately, this maker isn't producing basses any more. SO, what my next step???

Also annoying is the open G string buzzes, so there is a nut issue I'm thinking. There is also fret buzz on the G string from the 12th to 15th frets and I can clearly see a peak in the board around this area by sighting down along the edge of the fretboard on the treble side (bass side is fine).
Lastly, when I first played the bass, I heard rattling coming from the control cavity. I took the cover off and discovered that neither the 9v battery or preamp module was held in place by any means. Both were just flopping around in there. I'm told it's one of this guy's earlier basses, but still.. :hmm:

The bass is a beauty and has very good tone. I'd like to keep it but... :(:confused:

I hope whatever you paid for it, will allow you to finance the extensive neckwork this will require. That's, apparently, just to begin with.

UPS shipping is insane! USPS or Fedex, I find, are a much better deal. NTM ever trying to get the Big Brown to 'fess up, when they've destroyed something.

Sorry you get the bad end of the stick, in that deal. Try tuning the bass up higher, leave it for a week. Good luck!
