Hi, I'm new in here.. and i really need to get a sound sample of a Fender 62' American Rissue...
(i'm sorry i don't really know where i hould post it so, Sorry..)

The MySpace blog posts for each song will give some more info about the equipment, but I'll go ahead and tell you...

The main bass sound on "Unwired" is a Fender Jazz with the bridge pup and tone rolled off about 25%, played fingerstyle. The signal was run through a SansAmp BDDI, dbx 160A compressor, a Presonus BlueTube DP preamp, and a Lexicon Alpha USB interface. I was surprised and pleased at how fat the sound is. My bass teacher (a studio pro), was surprised that I got that fat a sound out of a J bass - he thought it was a P for sure.

On some of the other bass layers, I also used an EHX Bass Micro Synth for the envelope filter sounds in the song. There's also a fuzz bass layer on there, but it's way too far back in the mix to be heard very well. That song needs some more work.

I cant believe you got that tone from the bridge pickup, I was thinking that was a vintage P with flats for sure. Where did you pick at?

What do you attribute to getting that fat deep tone from that setup?

Sorry for all the questions but I liked that tone

Look again :) For "Unwired" I had the bridge pup turned DOWN about 25% - a little more emphasis on the neck pup.

It was played fingerstyle plucking a bit to the bridge side of the neck pup. The strings are roundwounds, but they're pretty well used and have lost a lot of their zing. The SansAmp gave me some tubey sound, the dbx comp added a bit of punch, the PreSonus mic preamp added a bit more fatness. I think the tone was just the right combination of all the parts.

The song "Last Time Around" was a 62RI P w/ flats - played with a pick. SansAmp->dbx->USB interface.
