Hi

Hi
I am a newbie here. Just a little info I need and looks like this is a helpful group.
My brother recently died, and :crying: he had 8 basses as well as other misc. guitars, banjos, mandolins, etc...
We have recieved his estate, and have discovered the basses are "above our heads" as far as worth.
We do not want the basses and are looking to sell them. However, with our ignorance on the worth of them, we also dont want to give them away. Google them and the values are all over the board with prices.
Could any of you suggest or know where we can get an honest value? Maybe a "Blue Book" type book... or something like that?

Thanks SO much in advance for any replies...
RIPete

Firstly, I am sorry for the loss of your brother.
Next, there will be a lot of research ahead of you regarding the bass' value(s). On this note, there are rules against *fishing for buyers* in the way of a 'what's this bass worth, I'm thinking of selling it..' threads; to post legitimate FS ads you must be a supporting(read contributing :))member. For anything over a few bucks it's well worth the $20 a year, & may be worth it for you, although I'd read a bit first.
Mind you, I'm not accusing you of any willful wrondoing, but it's been done often enough to warrant the rule, so be aware.

Welcome to TB. :)

Thanks..... Although being accused of Phishing and asking if a publication is avalible (like a blue book is for automobiles) for pricing guides I thought would have been thought of as different, I guess I was wrong.
I DID not mention ANY makes, Models or anything that I thouight would spark any intrest or as bait.
I may not know about bass guitars, but I know when I am being wrongfully accused.
I can promise, I will NOT post anymore to this thread OR website. My brother was an amazing man if he had to deal with folks like this for his collection.

Again, Sorry for your loss. But that wasn't an accusation, just a heads up. You have to realize that coming on TB with a proposition such as yours is like dangling candy in front of hungry children,(not excluding myself here) many of whom deal on the internet regularly and have seen some cruel deals go down. there are pricing guides available I suggest you search them out for yourself. I'm sure you'll find them to be less engaging.
