High Pass Filter (HPF) and Low Pass Filter (LPF) Mega Thread

He has the v3 up there now. There's also the German kit that's been linked in this thread and a few other places. Haven't seen the price tag on that one yet. I've considered doing an open source one similar to my variable LPF onboard preamp, but right now I have a very full plate with commercial design work and it wouldn't be all that different from @fdeck's anyway. Oh! Thanks for the update. I'll check it out though will probably just toss by biz to @fdeck

FYI, According to the website, it's out of stock right now.
In stock again! Just ordered mine.

Is anyone making a cheaper HPF - Behringer or Joyo for example (can't seen anything on their sites)? I've only come across Fdeck clones custom built or Broughton. I'm not a fan of clones per say, but I'd rather spend £30 on one or a cheaper brand than £90+ for a custom build just to see if it helps smooth out things in our rehearsal space. I can only think of one venue I've had an issue with my sound.. and it's closed now. :)

Hi! I've benn reading this post the lasts months, and now it's time to try. I've seen the Von-Filterung kit. Does anyone built and played that?

I have the VONG on my Board. It's a great Tool. I use it in Front of my Mesa D800 and so I have the same Features as the D800+ plus an LPF, Polarity Switch, DI Out and an adjustable Boost....

When I am playing InEar I use the VONG as a stage DI-Box. A perfect solution for me if I want to use minimum equipment on stage. No stage amps, no wall plug adapters needed. Just the VONG and a small personal monitor body pack (Behringer P1). That's it.

@glocke1:

I never thought I'd like a cabinet with horn, much less a midrange driver...F212 content.

Gig report time...

This thing along with the Mesa 800 kicks butt and doesn't take names.

The house PA had subs for bass, but the feedback i was getting from people is that when i turned up on stage the bass sounded better as did the overall sound of the band, so the PA guy ended up turning me down in the mains/subs.

Im still working on finding a sound I really like with Mesa..I think it is in there, I just need to dig around for it.

Turning the HPF up helps all towards that goal.

This cabinet is downright amazing, it had the drummer smiling non stop because he could hear and I think some extent feel the bombs i was able to drop.

60 Euro Hotone?

edit: dang, someone bought the last one from Thomann?

greetings

Wise(b)ass

Ah nice one, it's showing as unavailable on Thomann but I'll have a look around! Thanks!

Decided to buy one of those little Hotone Gate units - not to replace my primary HPF/LPF unit, but the size is just so convenient for a quick, throw it in your gig bag for rehearsal, etc.

Plus, noise gate and the cool, green LED knob - what's not to like? I can always return it if I don't like it.

The LPF range is a little high for bass, but still low enough to maybe put some tame on an active bass if needed. But the meat-n-potatoes HPF range looks good - just wish there were more info on the HPF slope it is using.

i think i´ve got thomanns last one ;). wasn´t availlable anymore after i ordered it.

still very happy with it.
as for the lpf...i´ve yet to try it with my active bass, but with my passives i didn´t hear any difference turning the knob.

Cheeky!

I'm tempted to go with building the Vong for 60euro all in - as mentioned I've never had a problem with uncontrollable low end except for recently in our practice space. Some floor boards were replaced just after we moved in and the bass freq's have been totally messed up!

I recommend to buy the complete set, incl. drilled and printed housing and knobs. Then you just need to populate the PCB and assemble it. It took me less than 3hrs to complete everything. And Julian was very helpful to fix errors due to my cheesy soldering.

This I would do. I can't afford the graphic case though which is a bummer because his tutorial and instructions are great and I'd be happy to show off his kit!

I'm finding it quite bizarre that the filters aren't a big deal in the UK, compared to what is talked about here. Only a handful of cats I can see are having local builders custom build the fdeck design..

May be because many people are reluctant for DIY and don't want to end up in a non-functional mess. But with the complete set and his detailed tutorial Julian has set the hurdle for DIY quite low. I think it's a good deal.

seems to be an us-thing. couldn´t find anything other than the hotone and the vong either on our side of the atlantic.

would have gone with the vong too, if i couldn´t get the hotone. just would have to annoy a friend to help me soldering.

Yup...The HPF on the mesa only has min/max markings on the HPF, but if I were to guess I'd say I had it dialed in to 45-50 Hz. It was nice to get down and hit those low notes without all that muddiness in there.

Where I can find HPF for bass ? It would be very good addition to my gear because most of the freqs below 40hz is just useless especially on stage when you don't need that rumble but good monitor bass sound. It's sometimes hard to get that clean but still bass sound without turn down the lows.

Do you solder or know some one who can?

Not a kit: Broughton Audio ships from Canada to Europe. I have the always-on HPF. It requires a power supply. It's stellar.
