Hilimire bass necks?

Not recent. I had them build me a neck I never got to use a year ago.
I contacted them a month ago. Michael Hillmire sold the company to someone else that is keeping the name, I guess.
I asked about a neck with a Tele headstock. They said they were trying to figure out the trussrod access.
They sent me a picture of how they were doing them. Looked hideous.
Their most recent pieces on Ebay looks like they figured out the issue.

Thanks for the response. I've talked to the new owner and he sounds knowledgeable and their ebay stuff looks great. I just haven't read many real experience reports on the recent stuff.
so I have some recent experience with Tucker. send him an email in regards tonpurchasing a neck, clise to christmas so I understood it might be a while before he had time to do anything. took jim over a week to email me back. when he dis finally get back to me he said things were pretty crazy but he was back to a regular schedule so he would be able to be in communication. I happened to be in my email when that came through so I was able to email him right back, took me ten min. been over a week now and no communication what so ever. I can only figure he doesnt want my money.

Weird and sad... I have a bass I'd love a new neck for.
me to. i’m absolutely jonezing for a cherry neck with canarywood fb on a thunderbird body! I have almost everything I need, the neck is pretty important to this build. Dont want to use Warmoth as that’ll be 500 bucks, cost prohibitive to say the least.

would mind a Roasted Maple neck, just had my hope to high on that dang canary on cherry, looked sooo good!

Well I heard from Tucker yesterday and he said he has been ill so didnt even look at his email. I can understand that, hope he’s being honest with me. He offered to call me this afternoon, will hold my judgement for the phone call, see how that goes.
That neck looks nice from the photos, glad to hear it hasnt moved around any. Seems safe to assume you happy with it. Did you have hime to dress the frets or do that locally?

Padauk doesn't have a finish ,so had to adjust truss due climate conditions twice and file the fret ends once.
The only work I had done was fitting the nut and string retainer. The frets didn't need any work.
The carve is good back of neck is smooth. I play a J bass but this p neck is comfortable not chunky or sticky.

Cherry wood? I and Many others never had a good experience with cherry wood on a bass neck. Its to soft not strong at all. It bends and twist easily and dents easily.
Stick with maple or at least something more durable then cherry. I am just trying to be helpful from my past experiences. It can be very disappointing when you spend your hard earned money on a bass neck and it ends up being firewood.
Did Tucker from Hilimire Guitars ever get back to you, like he said? Good luck to you, Klondike.
Glad to hear that. I did purchase a bass neck from Tucker in the past and I can honestly say, he does make a great neck.

Just got a cherry neck with Birdseye maple fretboard, popped it on a body I had to restore and voila - looks and feels good - so far so good with the neck, frets a little rough, by not cut your finger rough.

a Quick update. I continued with the Cherry neck, Tucker installed a couple carbon fiber stiffening rods. It is built and at the house. I am away from home so my project is on hold till further unemployment. But I have seen it and it looks great. I've got a couple pictures on my phone and I am on the computer currently so I don't have them readily available. Overall I liked dealing with Tucker, I haven't anything bad to say about him at all. And I would certainly deal with him down the road.
