HIPSHOT D TUNER ANYONE

I just put one on my MIM P. I changed out all 4 machine heads (1 D tuner + 3 tuners) in just about a half hour. They go in really easy, the holes all lined up exactly, and it works really well. I really like the finer gear ratio on the other 3 tuners too. They only cost me $22.00 a piece, so I figured what the heck.

Try Basspartsresource.com I found their pricing to be the best.

I got a question for you guys i got a G&L tribute L2500 and i want to upgrade the machine heads with HIPSHOT, it's really worth it? and there is an specific one that i should get??
Yes, Hipshots are worth the money.

It depends if it's worth it to you, do you feel that the current ones are slipping? Do you feel that there's something wrong with them? Or are you just looking to spend money?

Well what i feel with the current one is that is kind of hard to tuned it perfectly, if and tuning an string it always go higher o lower than the tome that im looking for, you know what i mean its hard to explain, is not a precise tuning machine. it change the tone too much to be precise, some times to get it right I need to touch the machine head and almost do no movement

I would like to put a hipshot d tuner on my squire [sic]
I find it incredibly hard to believe that these things can go from a measured in-tune E to a measured in-tune D and back to a measured in-tune E again by flipping a lever. Maybe it can, but I'd love to see it done and verified through a tuner, if so.

Anyway, shouldn't a competent pro bassist be able to just quickly grab a D by ear with the stock machine anyway?;)

As for Hipshot machines in general, I have them on my 2008 AS Jazz and don't think I'd ever consider the expense of retrofitting them on anything else. Better, maybe/maybe not, but I've never considered the units on stock Fender MIA basses to be a problem.

I find that the one that I put on my '65 Jazz absolutely can go between an in tune D (or C) to an in tune E using the lever. I use a StroboFlip tuner, and am really anal about tuning and set-up. The one caveat is that you have to follow the manufacturer's directions in tuning it in the first place. This can be a bit of a pain, but once done I find it to be as stable as any of my other tuning pegs, meaning that I rarely need to retune during a gig unless I bump the headstock.

I often change from drop tuning to standard within a song, if I have a measure of rest. Couldn't really be done easily without the hipshot.

Cheers,
Dennis
