Hipshot Detuner key problem

Hi everyone. Just purchased a Fender badged hipshot detuner. I have set it up as per instructions. When I tune the e string then flick the lever to d, once I go back to e it is always sharp.
Any ideas? Strings are broken in too so they arent settling.

Tune the E, then flip it & tune the D. Then repeat. You have to do this a few times to set the tuning. It's worth the extra effort. It'll stay in tune all night in either position.

Re-read the instructions again. With the d-tuners, you have to toggle back and forth initially and get the "d-tuning" amount set correctly via the small knob on the d-tuner. The instructions tell you how to do this and in what order. Once done, it's pretty much set for a while.
