Hipshot Supertone Gibson Two Post Bridge

I used powdered graphite on he '64 EB-0 tuners and it helped them a lot. Just de-tune to move the gears, puff the graphite into the side of the gear, then tune back up. Once or twice up and down ought to smooth them out by working the graphite into the machinery.

FYI....the early 60's EB-0 models had a slightly different 2-point bridge with the posts offset sightly - the G string side post is closer to the top of the bass. Anyone with an early 60's 2-point has been unable to use the Hipshot Supertone because the holes were level. The bridges fit the late 60's and 70's models just fine.

I spoke with the Hipshot guys this summer and they were putting a new model into production with a setscrew in the hole on the G-string side; this would allow retracting the screw to use the bridge on an early 60's Gibson 2-point bridge instrument, but also allows extending the screw to use it with late 60's and 70's bridges.

The new model 2-point Supertone should be in production by now - feel free to call Hipshot and ask about it. They're very nice to talk with.

The problem with my eb0 is that someone set the neck without a pitch, so it is too straight. My tuners also just don't seen to be holding. Honestly I just want the thing to play well so I can get more use out of it.

Honestly, I have learned so much since starting this thread. And a lot of what I have learned has come from the very helpful folks at Hipshot. Give them a call and I know they can help you too. If not, I will do everything I can. Some pictures of your bass, especially the neck angle, would really help.

I have the opposite problem to Simon. I fitted the 2 point Supertone to my 70/71 slot head EB3 but I can't get the strings low enough and so the action is much higher than it needs to be. The spec says the min string height at the bridge should be 0.525 inches but it's actually 0.6 at the lowest setting. The bridge is flush to the body. I've emailed Hipshot today. Harder to fix this than Simons problem :-(
The Supertone is a much better design than the original 2 point. I had to replace the studs but that has been successful, and the bridge is pretty much as flush as its going to be with the 2 point. Having 3 points would be better, but I don't want to change the guitar that much - with mods that can't be reversed.
