Hipshot tuners broke. What do I do?

Bass took a bad fall today and landed on the tuners. Two of the keys popped off and I’m not sure what to do. Are these repairable or do I just need to buy a new pair?

Maybe Hipshot could send you the Chassis sans the gears. Otherwise you'd need 2 new ones.

I’m afraid you’ll be replacing the entire tuner.

That piece that broke off appears to be pressed into the baseplate. It broke off just above those two tabs that are still in the baseplate. I don’t see anything repairable or replaceable.

We're kinda hoping HipShot (...in the Christmas spirit) sends replacement baseplates with intact mounting tabs. If the balance is still intact, the OP can remove and recycle the existing cloverleaf / worm gear / tensioner screw and post / gear / screw assemblies. This is assuming the cloverleaf assembly can be extricated from the broken tab remnants...I'm assuming they're reversible. Free full replacements would be even better.

I would try to weld the plate back together and spray with some flat black spray paint....or just buy a new one.

Probably self-destruct. The tabs are originally installed via compression fitting as evidenced by the clefts on the underside of the mounting tabs. If the assembly were cleaned up a bit, one may be able to re-introduce the tabs and smack the underside with a mallet and punch / chisel to re-set.

I’ve learned, Hipshot is great about that sort of thing. I’ll buy direct from them every chance I get.

I would try your suggestion first...might work. Hipshot makes the best tuners in my opinion, so I don't fault them.

Oscar took good care of me when I had a tuner break, sent me a replacement.
