Hipshot Ultralites on MIJ Geddy Lee

In early January I bought a 2004 MIJ Geddy Lee bass. It quickly became my primary player with the feel and sound. It's put my G&L JB and LB100 into rotation in 2nd and 3rd place in the stable.
But it was heavy with a bit of neck dive. So I got a set of Hipshop Ultralite tuners (3/8" shaft) and installed them last Thursday evening.
Wow, great balance and no neck dive! Weight of the bass went from 9.8 lbs to 8.9 lbs. per my bathroom scale. When I hand weighed the components I could feel a substantial difference and when I put the bass on the scale after installation I was really surprised at the 0.9 lb difference.
One question for the group: Is it OK to adjust the tension on each tuner with the allen screw on the tuner body? There is no documentation referencing this on the Hipshot web site.

the tension screw on tuners like these is just to keep the key from feeling loose and rattle-y; you only want to tighten until it feels "smooth" as opposed to "stiff", tighter won't affect tuning stability one way or the other

Yes, I can confirm,your claim! I replaced tuners on my Warmoth Neck and cured the neck dive & weight issues! I was on the fence when I order the neck with std. steel stiffening rods, but I wanted their graphite rods I just didnt feel like spending $60 bux more!(neck was already over $500 bux). I was over joyed when I finally recieved it! Great quality & craftsmanship, but it was a little heavy, I immediately regurted my choice(steel Rods). Upon install total Neck dive,Ugh!! I wrestled with reordering another with graphite rods! but reluctant b/c $$$!! I loved the neck (Wenge/ebony fb) but it was top heavy! I've used Ultralites before on another bass with great results, So I ordered a cheaper(korean) version on Ebay. & to my relief it cured the neck dive & weight issues! I found Gotoh Resolites during my research/shopping for the hipshot Ultralites. the literature stated they were Lighter than Ultralites by a couple of ounces! I found a dealer online & ordered. & it was true! plus they had a little better styling too! The Ultralites i had were not the elephant ear knobs , but the smaller more modern looking ones, the Gotohs were a little more beefy/ thinker looking & had a more modern flare i was going for.
I recommend both for anyone looking to relieve Neck Dive or solve a little weight issue, they worked wonders for my bass & saved me a good chunk of money too!
I want to say the steel rods seem to add a resonance to my tone& sustain, for any one wondering about the same, ordering a warmoth neck build! they're great replacement necks! I'm gonna order another as soon as this craziness ends!
