hi,
i have an issue with my setup. search didn't show me any similar results, so here we go. maybe someone had similar issues or knows what can is the problem:
in the rehearsal room im getting a strong hissing/whistling noise at high volumes when i'm facing the speakers at some certain angles. even when i hold the strings to mute the bass.
my setup is an ibanez roadgear with j and mm pickup, compressor, darkglass x7 and a markbass f500 driving a 4x10 and 1x15 cab.
i did some testing to find out the source of the issue. it definitely depends on the amount of high gain and distortion of the x7, but also on the mm pickup. the j pickup creates hum, but no hissing that i described.
i tested with an ibanez sr300 with 2 humbuckers and had pretty much the same issue, although a bit less present.
also the angle, in which i face the speakers seem to be crucial. at around 45 degree the noise is the strongest.
maybe my issue is really specific but on the other hand since i was able to recreate it with another bass, maybe this problem is wider known.
does anyone of you have any clue what's the problem, why it is and what i could do about it?
when playing live i didn't have the issue so far, but in the rehearsal room it really limits my preferred sound choice.
thanks!
