I have found a Hiwatt 112 50LC I am interested in. Can not find any info on the web about this guitar amp. anyone know where i might track down some info on Hiwatt amps? I have tried the Hiwatt site, nothing there, I emailed Hiwatt have not heard back...its been a few weeks now.

Not a Hiwatt in the classic sense. Those amps are part of the Series 2000 amp line from the late 80s. High gain. Frank Levi designed the circuit, IIRC, which is a good thing, but the build quality was iffy at best. I think they were built in upstate NY - definitely in the US.

There was a Biacrown version of this in the early '80s.

Not the "worst" Hiwatt, really; I had one of those late '80s 100-watt bass amps — single input, two channel, solid distortion, monster transformers (Drakes?). Sorry I gave it up. Doesn't sound like a Hylight, Biacrown, 2000s-present remake or Reeves, Hi-Tone, Harry Joyce remake, etc. But they can be meaty and made my 4001 sound quite good.

I own a fairly rare (I've not seen another) 200-watt Sterling Imports copy of a Hiwatt bass amp, made in Modesto. Very solid amps, but again not the toppy chime of a Hylight.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Hylight-era six-channel PAs.
