Hiwatt Bass Cabs

While thinking what cab(s) to pair my newly acquired Sound City bass 150 amp with, it dawned on me that new Hiwatt cabs would look good and would match up well visually I think, since they share history..But..

There isn't much info/reviews nor talk about them sound-wise..I went on the Hiwatt site http://www.hiwatt.com/data/bcabs.html and saw they have 3 models:

-1x15/4x10 Cabinet / SE-1510
-1x15 Cabinet / SE-115
-4x10 Cabinet / SE-410

Has anybody ever play through any of these cabs? Does someone on this board own one or more of these? Testimonials? Any shops in USA/Canada that carries them?

This probably wont help you much, but I've got an older HIWATT 1x15 that I like allot. Mine came to me with a 4ohm 300w. EV instaled. Mine is surprisingly clear and bright sounding for a 1x15 with no horn. Its very punchy and I'd consider it kind of a round-woody sounding cab with fairly strong low mids. (Its not what I'd consider to be much of a "deep-bass" type of cab) With its super thick plywood construction, Its no lightweight and its extra wide design (over 27" wide) makes carrying it by myself a bit of a chore sometimes.

Thanks for your response! I checked that dealer link you supplied and I think I know why there isn't much talk about those cabs..Nobody can afford them!! Insane prices..I will have to wait for a used one if I ever decide to go the Hiwatt route..

They aren't very special cabs, a lot of places will knock up a black tolexed box with some speakers chucked in. I used a Barefaced super 15 with my Sound city 150, it was a killing machine. Looked a bit funny as it overhung though.

Thats why you get TWO super 15's....

I'm sorry but you could have a custom cab with just about any speakers of your choice made for the price of that stuff.

I ended up getting a stack awhile back, sounds as good as it looks, a little pricy though.

I run vintage Hiwatt cabs, I have three 4123s (4x12)and a 2150 (2x15) the 4123 cabs don't have a lot of low end definitely great for treble and midrange grind, the 2150 has low end to spare.
I also use Orange, I have quite a bit of thier new gear the 115 and 4x10 cab are excellent. Btw I have a Sound City 200 Plus that is great for bass!

Pretty old post, but I still use a pair of Super 15s. The Vox was actually from a different set.
