Well, since my advice was specifically requested... Yes, you have a chance.

Just be very careful, and dont get too involved too quickly.
I met my first ex-wife in almost the exact same manner, minus the military involvement.

Just beware, because she's likely crazy. Which means good things for you, in bed.
And be ready to move on when things go south. She isnt a keeper, but could be fun for a while.

Those hurts are going to be too fresh for you to cope with, unless you want to deal with things like "That's just what my ex used to do!". It's a mentally fatiguing, never ending mind**** until they learn to cope. And that might never happen. There is no rebound guy after an abusive relationship. There is fear, mistrust and a shell of a human. The true tragedy of abuse is that it makes them see the world as abusers, and themselves as victims. Until they get that fixed they are good for nobody, not even themselves. I have first hand knowledge and saw my sister go through it too.

You are absolutely right and my pathetic stab at humour did not take this into account.There is nothing even slightly jokeworthy about male on female abuse...end of story.
The fact that it happens multitudinously, on a daily basis...is a matter of shame for the male gender. Treating females as equals(I firmly believe they are) has to start behind closed doors,.......
So males are stronger....ha!.....the women are more Zen.....get used to it! Opposites attract.....Mars..Venus?....who knows?
The alpha male crap is wearing thin, just be nice to the ladies....apreciate them, and the things they hold to be important.

Oh I don't know... I once heard Steven Wright do a routine and he asked "do you ever wonder why battered women are never deep fried?"

It's OK if you laughed at that, it doesn't necessarily make you violent towards women.

He also asked "if blind people wear sunglasses, why don't deaf people wear earmuffs?"

When I finally go deaf from too much loud music, perhaps I'll get all PC and go protest one of his shows.

Specific real incidents are not funny. Hypothetical situations can be very funny and don't hurt anyone.

Wow, this really blew up! Lulz. And even though it hasn't been mentioned, I am deeply disappointed in myself for taking and posting a duckface pic, I apologize, deeply.

But alot of you are asking what my intentions are, and to that I say I don't know, honestly. I can say that I am not just looking for a piece of ssa, I've never really been -that- guy, but I'm not necessarily looking to jump into something serious either, at least thats not my immediate intention.
