Try to find Hofner Blade pickups. They were what came after the Staple, they are single coil and WIDE RANGE meaning more treble content.

I have a c. 1973 with blades. They sound great.
maybe a Novak H22 gold foil would be an appropriate replacement, its a single coil reputed to have great sonic range
Sorry to butt in! Earlier this year I broke the E string tuner on my Hofner while tuning up, just as I was about to go on stage - disaster! I lost confidence in that bass, worried that those little open back guitar tuners are too weak for regular live work, so I bought these - superb upgrade! The amber tuners are a great match for the colour and style - they are actually made for a violin bass anyway - the Duesenberg Violin MB22N - so very much in keeping.

So anybody excited about the new Green Line Hofners?
I'd get one of those. Sounds great and looks fabulous. They also seem to have a wider neck going by the 42mm nut width. I had a 500/1V63 back in the late '00s. The neck was rather narrow on it, so this new Club Bass would be a very nice addition to my small collection of basses.
I have a green line Hofner Violin bass that I bought completely by accident. It was listed for sale on Reverb and I made what I thought was a ridiculously low offer on it. It was a brand new 2024 Green line that had never been played. The seller took my offer and I was sort of committed! The good news is that the more I play that bass the more I enjoy playing it and the more I feel fortunate to have purchased it in the first place. Due to some physical limitations I now live with my other bass is no longer playable for extended lengths of time. However the short scale, the body ergos, and the 4.5 lb weight of the Hofner green line make it a real winner for me….now if it JUST DIDN”T HAVE FRETS!!!
they have been around for a while, i thought about getting one back in 2022 when i got my hofner club. they look beautiful and i love the green renewable approach.
Ah, that explains why I didn't see much hype for it. I saw the youtube demo and assumed it was for a new release. I like the control set up without the switches and the natural color scheme looks great. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for a deal like dlmarquez had. Cheers Hofnerds

You can get a VV control with the standard hofner wiring and control panel. Just turn everything “on” and adjust the 2 knobs as your volumes for each pickup. I run my bass like this with the neck pickup cranked and the bridge one turned down all the way.
Everything 'OFF' engages both pickups with VV control. Everything 'ON' acts as a mute. And at no point is there any normal tone control.
Sorry off. Thanks for the correction. Yep no tone control but when I had fenders I never used it either, just everything cranked. YMMV
So after lots of internal debating, including here, I finally got me the ‘upgrade’ from my lefty Ignition to a Contemporary… thought I’d share.
Such a fine instrument, great sustain, great tones, great build quality, really enjoying the hell out of it.
First thing I did was put the Ignition’s LaBella’s on the HCT.
The Ignition really struggled at band practice, I had to push it to its absolute limits. I expect that to feel quite differently next practice.
It came with teacups too!
I saw that updated on the Hofner website, but not yet on any of the websites that actually sell them. So I expected it to come with the regular knobs.
I always end up removing the pickguard from my basses and guitars at some point, but for now it’s still on there. Kind of like how it ‘keeps the bridge in place’ with that little screw.
Anyways, here it is.
