Hofner Verythin LONG SCALE bass?

I wrote to Hofner asking which strings they were using on the bass and got an interesting reply...

"Instruments such as the 500/8 bass use strings purchased in bulk by the manufacturer and this often varies according to supply and price. Therefore I cannot say for sure which strings were used and they may not be from a retail manufacturer anyway.

I believe D'Addario make pretty good strings and we often use these ourselves for our own basses."

So I am no wiser..! The strings feel quite a lot like TI Jazz rounds but I doubt if they would be putting such exotic strings on their basses.

First gig with my new bass last night. A two and a half set of blues and groove music.
The bass ticked every box. It sounded great, played great and looked great. I've never had so many compliments about my playing. I'm convinced that was entirely about the sound, look and vibe of the bass rather than my actual playing. Couldn't be more happy. Also the dedicated Hofner hard case is a really snug and reassuring fit. I would suggest that the case is an essential purchase.

PS :I put a set of DR Sunbeams, 45 - 105, on the bass about a week ago and they worked very well.
