Oh no Paul....you have to use ALL TOOB![]()

i'm older, wiser and weaker now than when I used pure tube amps.
That said, there is always a tube somewhere in my signal chain.
I'm quoting this because it is beautiful.
Not just tube...tube and transformers! It's not all in the tubes...got to have both.Oh no Paul....you have to use ALL TOOB![]()

Man, I spent a lot of quality time recording different basses this past week with my new-to-me REDDI tube DI, my B-15 with a speaker DI, my VT Deluxe, and my Countryman Type 85. The B-15 and REDDI just kicked all kinds of ass over the VTD and Countryman. Was not even close. It's totally because of the tube(s) and transformers. Clips are posted in the REDDI Mega Thread on pg 19 (I think) if anyone wants a listen, but I defy anyone to tell me they couldn't tell the difference between a simulation and the real thing in those clips.
So now I'm back to being an all out tube snobAlways was, really. Solid state is doing things I never thought possible these days, but it still isn't the real thing. Love the easy schleps with micros and I still get a very good sound and the same crowd reaction, but I've got this desire now to only play through what I consider the best stuff made. Fortunately, I can do my gigs on a B-15 so I'm golden between it and the REDDI and don't have to do the 250 lb schlep to get it on.
