Hohner B2V, Pickup Suggestions For Metal?

Heya, im a newb so shh!!, im getting my hohner B2V headless 5 string customised, with a completly new artisic paintjob new fret inlays, and new pickups. as im not customing the bass myself i have no idea about pickups, do they need to be an exact size or will the guy who makes guitars that is fixing it up be able to make any pickups fit?, im after a real Thrashy sound pickups with very good low end but with a high end that cuts through any distortion id be using, :P i want to spend around £300 for the pair of pickups.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

many thanks

Is the B2V headless the same as the B2V with a headstock (in that it has active EQ)? if so then why not just use that? I had a 'headed' B2V many moons ago, and got some very good 'modern / punchy' sounds just by using the on board tone circuit. just a thought. My B2V had 2 'J' style pickups, but I seem to remember the headless ones had physically bigger pups?
