Hole in MIM Jazz

To be serious again - using that hole as a cavity behind a switch is an idea - but sorting out the routing to it for wires might be quite difficult. I'd be worried about the finish flaking off during and after routing this channel. Even screwing into the finish can make it crack if there's any stress put on it - like the pilot hole's not big enough for the screw. Anybody know how this can be done without risk?
