Yeah...nothing that matters to sound or playability is any different from any other $6,000 bass. Silliness...but that's just my opinion.

I guess if I had a few million clams to burn I might...wait, no I wouldn't!!! I'd buy a few hundred awesome basses that cost less than $10,000!

Except that Ritter has already made and sold several such basses. A TB'er has one that is entirely plated in platinum. The one shown is just "the most expensive one". The value is entirely legitimate insofar as people have paid many tens of thousands for other basses that have been completed. Look up Ritter, he is not just "imagining" these basses.

For the most part, I agree, but to a professional violinist or cellist with a solo or chamber music career, paying multiples of that amount can make perfect sense.
