Home recording bass track

Hey guys! I'd love to hear some advice on recording bass tracks at my cubase. This tracks will be used in a full band project sometime, so I think I am looking for a good dry bass signal.
The bass is an active hot g&l l2500. My poor soundcard is an audigy 2 platinum ex sounblaster. This soundcard has two 1/4 inputs that are described as:

1.Line In 1 / Mic In jack, for line sources (electric guitar) or dynamic microphones.
2.Line In 2 jack for analogue devices like synthesizers and other line-level sources.
(The Line In 1 /Mic jack has a sensitivity knob for controlling mic input level)

I think line 1 is mono. I am not sure about line 2.

I also own an EBS Microbass 2 di/preamp box which I think might (or not) be usefull.
Other gear I own and might be of interest are a limiter pedal (behringer) and an ovedrive pedal.

What do you think would be the best possible way to home record my bass ?

If you can't find ASIO drivers use ASIO4ALL
Try it without the DI at first, then with it. Compare the two recordings

If you have the budget, get a USB audio interface. Lots of choices. Lots of opinions. But in the end, you'll be glad you got one.

Get an XLR Female to balanced 1/4" male adapter (Pro Co BPBQXF-5 Excellines Balanced Patch Cable - 5' | Sweetwater.com) Plug the XLR end into the EBS balanced output. Plug the 1/4" into line in 2.
