Hooker's Green Bassmachine -vs- Bearfoot Blueberry?

My apologies for resurrection of this thread.Found my answer minutes later. Still on the fence, so I'll have to get both to see for myself
Get off the fence and get the Blueberry. It's more tube-amp like, has deeper lows, and has more tonal range - from vintage and farty to more growlier tones. They are similar but the Bearfoot blows it away IMHO, the only reason I would consider the HGBM is if board space took priority over tone!
Pretty much this. I didn't care much for the HG. I sold my Blueberry too, but of those two the Blueberry is definitely quite a bit better to me. In fact it it weren't for the SGFX Beta I'd probably be very happy with a Blueberry.
I am in full agreement here (does that ever happen on Talkbass - try tone wood!!!). After trying a mountain of dirt pedals I kept the Blueberry and the Beta because they have different personalities in the mild overdrive style. That also allows me to keep two pedal board at once. The Beta stacks particularly well in front of the Imperial (also made by SolidGoldfx). The Blueberry sounds great in front of the SUF Dirty Rooster fuzz.
There are many pedals which sound like the Hooker Green Bass Machine. I find more interesting these days to have fuzzes and overdrives than distortion pedals. I like it really hot or mild but not so much medium!

i've had (and sold) both the blueberry and the hookers green. i sold the blueberry and replaced it with the hookers which i had longer of the 2. they both sounded ok, but neither was what i was looking for. describing sound is difficult and relative, so i won't try. my opinion is that each of these pedals has a distinct voice, and ultimately that's not what i was looking for in an overdrive. bongo hipped me to the solidgold beta (thank you!), and that pedal is the one that i've really come to enjoy - and use as an always-on overdrive. i feel the beta enhances rather than changes the natural tone of my rig.
searching for an overdrive/distortion pedal can be very challenging. i'm not crazy about the buy/try/sell cycle. some people dig it, but i find it often frustrating. good hunting!
