Hoppus Bass Grounding Issue???

Looking for a little help. I put together my first parts bass. I got a loaded Hoppus body and threw a MIM precision neck on it so I guess it is pretty similar to stock. I didn't do any wiring. The body had a tone pot added, so it has volume and tone controls. The bass sounds good but there is a fairly loud hum. The hum drops significantly if I touch either of the control knobs or the jack. There is absolutely no effect on the hum when touching strings, bridge or tuners. From what I've read the bass is properly grounded if you touch metal and the hum level drops. But it seems that always includes tuners, bridge and strings. Could it be just the bridge is not properly grounded? Looking for some idea of what might be going on before I tear everything apart. Thanks!

Yes it sounds like the bridge is not effectively grounded. Another possible issue is the control cavity and pickup cavities needs shielding that is grounded
