If you have a wedding registry then yes, I think it's tacky as hell, but if you make it clear that that's all you want people to do, contribute to a honeymoon fund, then I think it's A-ok.

My wife and I spent a week in Rome for our honeymoon for $2000. Maybe another $500 when you add in meals and souvenirs. That was 20 years ago, but I don't think inflation has been all that bad since, with the recession and all.

I would say that crowdfunding is tacky for something like this, yes, but if you have people saying they want to give you something, you can go ahead and tell them that you'd like the honeymoon trip and would be thankful if they could contribute to it. But I wouldn't put out a blanket call for the universe to give you money.

The average cost of a gallon of gas in 1994 was $1.11 - which is about $1.65 when adjusted for inflation. A lot of things have gotten a lot more expensive since then.
