I just saw Quarantine and liked it a lot. Very Blair Witch near the end, but still good. I'm waiting for Rec. to become available on Netflix to rent. I also have Pieces and The Funhouse in my queue.

I prefer Supernatural Horror. Werewolves, Vampires, Aliens, Demons are all cool.
I generally dislike slasher/torture films like Hostel, Wolf creek and Saw. The original Halloween was great though.

Anyone ever see Cannibal Holocaust? Supposedly the most controversial movie ever. I wasn't super impressed mainly due to the hype I read but it's definitely not one for the squeamish.

A few new ones I thought were pretty good are Eden Lake (not true horror but I thought it was really suspenseful) and the Ruins.

One Missed Call - ok so the effects will give you the chills but the end was one of those ones that makes you go "Seriously? You just failed."

I read there is supposedly a Creepshow remake in the works. Anyone hear about that?

Going to wait for the new Friday the 13th to come out on DVD.

"Cannibal Holocaust" is a film featuring actual animal killings on-camera, which is where I draw the line as far as 'entertainment' goes. I can take pretty much anything else, but as far as 'CH' goes, once is definitely enough.

"Audition" is masterfully structured and directed.
"Alien" is still one of the best excercises in sheer tenseness ever put on film.

"Unit 731: Men Behind the Sun", about Japanese experiments on prisoners in WW2, should hurl your cookies, if you can find it (I had to get mine from England.)

I'm looking forward to that one too. I actually liked the new one:hiding:

I just picked up the re-issues of the first 3 a couple weeks back. FINALLY got to see Part 1 uncut! Part 2 didn't have much going for it besides new cover art, but Part 3 has both the 2D and 3D versions of the film. That in itself made me feel like a kid all over again.

I also bought His Name Was Jason. The director commentaries were pretty sweet.

Here's hoping we get to see an uncut Part 7!:hyper:

I am still on the fence about #3. One one hand it's the movie he gets the mask in but the acting was particularly excruciating in many parts. Like bad even for the Friday the 13th series. Either way I love that funk-esque bass line at the beginning with the envelope filter on it. :D

I have only seen Phantasm 1 which I like quite a bit. What's the deal with the sequels, any good? I have only seen 1 and 3 on DVD.

I'm not certain that the acting was all that good across the entire series, but I think the first 4 are the best of the lot. You're right about that Part 3 theme though, it's golden.:D

I like parts 1 and 4 the best. 2 and 3 are alright, but I'd find a way to try before you buy just so you don't waste $30 on dvd's you don't want.

One of the coolest horror movie themes out there :D

No the acting wasn't good at all in any of them but 3 is particularly bad. 1-4 are definitely the best though.

So you dig zombie movies I assume. What about Lucio Fulci's "Zombie"? The movie wasn't bad overall but the zombies were pretty cool. Definitely better than Romero's zombies from that era.

I do like Fulci's Zombi, and I agree that the zombies did look better. However, given the sheer number of zombies in Romero's films I'm willing to overlook the makeup quality if it wasn't quite up to par. It could also be that I'm a Tom Savini fanboy. Fulci did have one major thing going for him though: zombie vs. shark!
