So far, real good. The pitch options are disappointing. Octave is OK, but dropping even a whole step is just unusable. Hopefully they will work on that. It is possible to, if not run out of dsp entirely, at least limit your options with fewer than 12 blocks loaded. Apparently they are working on that as well. For my needs, it's great. I don't need pitch transposing, nor do I run spring reverb (one of the more dsp hungry blocks) on bass. I like the Alembic preamp in there. The bass amps sound fine. Many of the guitar amps are usable for clean or hairy bass, while the high gain amps can be blended in, in a dual path if that's your thing. You can get pretty usable fake synth stuff by using various combinations of octave, drive, filter, modulation, either in series or in a parallel path for blended tones. I have no Helix experience to compare this one to, but I really like the way the parallel paths are mixed together. You have level, pan, and a polarity reverse control. Overall, for the initial release, it's great. I do look forward to seeing what they tweak with upcoming firmware updates throughout the life of this one.
Shame about the pitch shift - something that HX Stomp does really well and would definitely be something I would make use of e.g. if a singer wants something in a different key to the original.

You said octave pitch shift is OK, but for octave up or down? I'm interested in if it can do guitar emulation by adding octave up and octave+5th at once. So one path would be normal bass tone and the second would be the guitar power chord. Each could run to different amp/cab sims or to separate outputs. Any thoughts if it can do it?
I pulled the trigger and got the Stomp a few days ago. The guitar sounds are great, so I'm happy with it since my primary use is home practice. The bass effects, amps, and cabs are very limited which is disappointing. They sound ok, and some of the bass presets sound pretty good, but I have not had time to tweak them. The pitch shifting isn't very usable, as you mentioned. Hopefully they continue to add and improve the unit with firmware updates. I wish it had the drum machine, which the previous ampero's had.
I have read the manual but just want clarification if the Ampero can take a mono in (instrument) and process it in stereo for the FX loop and output to two amps ?
The Ampero 2 Stomp should be able to. It's designed specifically to do this. Page 4 of the Stomp's manual says you can do this with two Y-cables for the FX loop send/return. Then page 37 shows it going to two amps. I don't have two Y-cables to test this out, so you'll have to trust the manual.
I recently bought the Ampero Stomp. It has a lot of good features and absolutey rocks on guitar! But as others have said - the bass effects are disappointing, and there are not as many amps and cabs as the Ampero I. I have a Boss OC-5 which I use, and the octave effects on the Ampero Stomp don’t even come close..!
These days I’m really into synth bass sounds, but find that Ampero Stomps envelope and filters isn’t good enough for my needs. Does anyone have some tips here? I’m greatly inspired by Ian Martin Allisons sounds, and think I should have gotten the HX Stomp instead..

I've seen that one synth video of his before, but I just looked at his instagram and was surprised by how much he uses theHX stomp for synth tones. Yeah, the Ampero Stomp can't do all that. I'm hoping that the Ampero will surpass the HX with future firmware updates, so maybe we'll get better bass effects/amps/cabs/synth sounds soon.
In the mean time, one option would be to use the Source Audio C4 for synth/filter sounds and the ampero for modulations. That's my plan for now since I already have a C4.
That might be a good solution, yes. I came over a frickin good demodeal on the HX Stomp yesterday, so bought it straight away! Wifey was not too happy about this impulse purchase, but was ok after i convinced her that I will sell nearly all my other pedals…
Hi! Does anyone know what the slope on the hi-pass / low-pass filters is? I couldn't find the info on the user manual, I am guessing it is 12dB/octave?
